If you have had the pleasure of watching episode 19 of drama serial ‘Alif’ we need to talk.
The drama, revolving around Momin and Momina and their search for spirituality, is not only a beautiful interpretation of someone who has strayed from the path of Islam and is relearning all he needs to know, but it’s also shaping up to be a love story between two heartbroken souls. And the chemistry between Hamza Ali Abbasi and Sajal Aly is setting our screens on fire.
You know how Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is a classic because of the chemistry between Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth? The stolen glances, the secret smiles, the love between them that’s portrayed without any explicit sexuality or even slathered in excerpts of them being all over each other? The budding love between Momina and Momin falls into the same category. The two are falling for each other, it’s clear for everyone to see, and it’s been portrayed in such a Halal way and yet is so convincing. The audiences are rooting for them and have their own cheeks flushing from the epic dialogues and acting of the Abbasi and Aly. Take a look for yourself:
We cannot stop smiling during these scenes! From the way they look at each other, to the level of admiration and respect Momin has for Momina, all love stories should start this way. But it seems, it will not last for long, as next week’s promo shows Momina slapping Momin straight across his face with tears in her eyes. What’s going to go down? What has Momin done now that deserved physical assault at the hands of his would be lover? When will the two makeup and bless our screens with their impalpable chemistry again!?
