Is it Weird That Momin is Falling in Love With a Version of his Mother, Husn-e-Jahan? #OedipusComplex

Does anybody else find it weird that Momin from Alif keeps looking at Momina longingly and falls in love with her deeper and deeper every time she dresses up as Husn-e-Jahan, HIS MOTHER? Is Sigmund Frued not rolling in his grave with exclamations of ‘ I told you so!’? Am I the only one who finds this slightly disturbing!?

I was just going about my business, binging all my fave dramas latest episodes, when I finally saw episode 19 of Alif, which btw everyone has been raving about because of the undeniable chemistry between Hamza and Sajal’s character, when I got to THIS scene:

HELLO!? I’m not denying that the way he looks at her throughout this episode sends tingles down my spine, but then I hear a tiny whisper in my head “He wants to bang his mother” and I get taken aback. I would kill for a guy I like to look at me the way he looks at his mother’s body double aka Momina but what the heck?

Only time will tell if this romance will grow out of the ‘I wanna marry my mommy when I grow up’ stage, to a proper love story, where the guy likes the girl for who she is and NOT because she’s playing his mother in a film about spirituality. I certainly hope it does because I, like thousands of others, am sincerely rooting for Momin and Momina’s story to be a love story that puts Romeo and Juliet to shame, (without all the death ofcourse)
