Mehndi is heavily entrenched in Pakistani culture; it’s a cult favorite from Eid to weddings. If you’re someone who doesn’t want to commit to days of having a henna stain all over your arms, or maybe you want to try something different, we have just the thing for you!
White mehndi is trending right now, mainly for how aesthetically pleasing it looks, and all you need is a wipe, and it’s gone from your hands.
Where Did White Mehndi Pop Up From?
We’re all used to the traditional mehndi made from henna leaves, with origins as far back as Ancient Egypt and Babylon. The classic henna stains your hands a deep red up till a week, but recently we’ve seen a shift towards temporary white mehndi.
A Pakistani henna artist, Sara Vazir, who runs Sara’s Henna, introduced this particular trend. In 2015, she introduced her white mehndi designs on a trip to UAE, which blew up like crazy, with even Mona Kattan taking notice of the young artist.
Essentially, it’s just white acrylic paint mixed with water and adhesive, and all you need to do is wait for it to dry like regular mehndi.
Sunday Times compiled a list of intricate white mehndi designs you can get for the next wedding!
