Want to Make a Classic Banoffee Pie?

We’re bringing you a super easy and classic recipe by Murrad Gillani, The Self Taught Chef.  This popular English dessert, banoffee pie = bananas + toffee, is a rich combination of different textures and flavours. Give it a try – we promise you’ll be hooked after the first bite.

Ingredients:

• Butter, melted 100g
• Butter cookies/Digestive biscuits, crushed 250g
• Butter 75G
• Brown sugar ¾ cup
• Condensed milk 1 can 397g
• Bananas 3 sliced
• Cocoa powder ¼ cup
• Chocolate chopped/shavings 50 grams
• whipping cream 175 ml

Directions:
(1) Put the crushed biscuits into a bowl with the melted butter and mix it together, then press the mixture into the base and sides of the pie tin.

(2) Bake at 350 F for 7 minutes and then let it cool .

(3) Put 75g butter and brown sugar into a non-stick saucepan over a low heat, stirring all the time until the sugar has dissolved.

(4) Add the condensed milk and bring to a rapid boil for about a minute, stirring all the time for a thick golden caramel.

(5) Spread the caramel over the biscuit base, cool and then chill for 1 hour.

(6) Now remove the pie from the tin and place on a serving plate.

(7) Slice the bananas and place on top of the caramel layer.

(9) For the perfect finishing touch, dust with cocoa powder and sprinkle chocolate shavings or chopped chocolate to decorate the pie, or even chunks of bananas.
