Dua Mangi’s kidnappers have reportedly made first contact with her parents, through social media app Whatsapp, demanding $0.25 million for her return.
The kidnappers have reportedly contacted her parents 3 times in 3 days demanding the ransom which roughly translates to 38,741,850 Pakistan Rupees.
Dua Mangi was kidnapped on the 30th of November from the Bukhari Commercial Area in Karachi. Her friend, Haris Soomro, who attempted to fight off the abductors was shot in the neck, and is still fighting for his life in the ICU at Aga Khan University Hospital.
The car driven by the kidnappers has been linked to a vehicle reported stolen on gunpoint from the PECHS area in Karachi, belonging to a trader named Danial Javed.
2 students from Dua’s University have been taken to a remote area by the police for questioning. Lawmakers suspect the abduction is an act of revenge on Dua Mangi.
