Abrar Ul Haq May Go to Court Over His Song ‘Chamkeeli’

It seems Abrar Ul Haq and his music can’t catch a break. His new song ‘Chamkeeli’ has come under fire by Advocate Rana Adnan Asghar, who claims the song is an insult to both men and women due to it’s demeaning lyrics. He has petitioned the courts to ban the track and remove it from Youtube. But have a listen before it successfully gets banned:

“Men were humiliated by Abrar ul Haq on December 7… Not only men but women were also humiliated in the song,” stated Adv Rana Adnan Asghar.

Civil Judge Ziaur Rahman has adjourned the hearing till December 21, seeking response from Abrar-ul-Haq, PEMRA and others.

Out of all the songs released by Pakistani singers with lyrics ten times worse than the ones of ‘Chamkeeli’, this seems more like a personal vendetta to us. Or if you’re in the mood for even more conspiracy, what if it’s just a publicity stunt to gain more traction for the song, which already has 4 million views on Youtube?

Abrar Ul Haq’s other songs such as ‘Nach Punjaban Nach’ also came under similar criticism at the time of it’s release. Previously, his rendition of ‘Billo De Ghar’ for Coke Studio was also taken down due to alleged copyright issues.

Abrar-ul-Haq has yet to comment on the matter.
