It was an array of richly made sherwani’s and bejeweled accessories along with smartly cut suits that held that extra layer of sophistication. But when it’s an Emraan Rajput show, we can expect a surprise or two. And this time the designer had truly pulled out all the stops.
With this being his ninth show at BCW, Emraan Rajput officially made history as he showcased his collection, Shalima, which had a total of 31 pieces. A magnitude that no other menswear designer has done. It’s no surprise that Emraan rose to the occasion as his wealth of talent and potential is well communicated in each thing the designer puts forth.
As the show began we were welcomed with incandescent sherwani’s that were ornamented with nakshmi, maroori, dupka handwork that was all customized. Each look was made with a whole lot of attentive detail. With jewelry from Maryam Khalid and shoes from Gomila, each look was truly fitting for the festive season. Emraan Rajput personally borrowed inspiration from his heritage to transport us back to the Mughal era.
And then there was the showstopper who really had us gasping for air. The gorgeous Amna Ilyas walked with such equanimity and truly showed the audience that it really is a woman’s world after all. It was her walk that then ushered the next segment of Emraan’s show.
Shalima’s black and navy blue suits had just the right amount of detailing. On account of the fact that Emraan is natural for creating styles that fit all, Shalima’s suits pushed it to a whole other level.
As it began wrapping up, there were whispers of what else the designer had up his sleeve. And it was something that brought the whole house down.
Ahsan Khan in a black sherwani walked the ramp with a sign that gave the message of solidarity with Palestine loud and clear.
While the lineup emerged yet again for their final walk, all were draped in keffiyah’s as Amna Ilyas led from the center. With one valiant message, Emraan Rajput proved that fashion can truly make a statement that matters and it truly can use its medium for awareness towards inescapable realities.
Emraan Rajput, you truly have made history.
