5 Habits That Are Sabotaging Your Weight Loss

So, all of us couch potatoes have this one constant urge to diet and watch our weight but we all know how challenging holding on to a healthy diet plan is. Here are 5 habits that you need to avoid that might be sabotaging your weight loss:

1. Unrealistic Expectations:

While better eating will definitely help lose weight but any thing that makes you lose massive amount of weight in a short period of time with nothing but dietary changes cannot be good for you. Remember, quick weight loss achieved by fad diets are NOT sustainable. It will allow you to aim to lose 10 kilos in 10 days – something that you might not be able to achieve. Having a realistic goal will help you achieve those goals and keep you motivated. Leading to greater weight lost over time.

2. Lack of Motivation:

Knowing why you’re making the choices that you’re making in terms of a healthier lifestyle will always help in keeping you motivated and keep you on track.  In most cases our motivation to lose weight is lower than our motivation to do nothing. Find something that makes you want to be fit and “Ami kehti hain” hasn’t cut it for anyone so far.

3. Buying JUNK Food:
Access is probably the easiest thing to control when it comes to junk food, lord knows we have felt the temptation to just keep munching while sitting watching Netflix.
The easiest fix is to not have junk food at home. Try healthier snacks, like celery sticks, feta cheese, Greek yogurt. “out of sight out of mind” isn’t just to be used for the problems in life. Works with junk food too.

4. Approaching a Healthy Diet as a Wall to be Scaled:
It’s not an all or nothing situation, do not think of it as a Wall to be scaled. Think of it as a path to be walked. If you had a bad moment it doesn’t mean you’re back to square one.  Don’t have an ‘all or nothing’ approach. So what if you’ve had a bad moment and indulged in some guilty desserts, don’t go all out thinking the day is ruined and now I should just eat everything and figure it out tomorrow.  Try and spend the rest of the day having a healthier approach to it. Don’t worry. A step back isnt all that difficult to recover from.

5. Not Cooking for Yourself:
All healthier food doesn’t have to taste like baby formula and mud. So when you cook for yourself, you can actually have great tasting food which is still nutritionally balanced.
P.s: Try all your favourite restaurant recipes at home. They will probably be healthier than their restaurant equivalents, even if they don’t taste the exact same.
