Bridal Fashion Bridging Differences Between Borders

We’re all familiar with the exquisite work of Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, who’s been pumping out unique bridal looks for celebrities like Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, and recently Katrina Kaif.

His work can be recognized from a mile away, or instead, it can even make its way miles from home into Pakistan. Recently, Sunday Times has observed a surge in Pakistani brides opting for Sabyasachi creations, from Mehndi and Baraat to even formal receptions.

Breaking Down the Hype

While there’s no doubt in Sabyasachi’s talent and craft, we do wonder why so many brides prefer to shift across the border for their wedding needs?

Mainly, the grass is always greener on the other side! Brides want to stand out on their special day, and when the local designer pool seems too concentrated, they’ve started looking towards our neighbors.

Similarly, given how closely knit the cultures between both countries are, if anyone understands desi weddings more than us, it’s the Indians! You can find the right kind of heavily embroidered, carefully bedazzled, and intricately stitched wedding clothes from the other side of the border.

Lastly, a bridal from Sabyasachi ends up costing less than big-name Pakistani designers like Faraz Manan (20 lac onwards), Bunto Kazmi (15 lac onwards), and HSY (10 lac onwards). Sabyasachi bridals roughly start from 8 lac, so families can cut down on spending big bucks on local designers without compromising on quality.
