Everyone’s favourite shark from the good old days is back, but this time with a message that could, technically, save lives.
This time, the cute yellow shark is here to teach all your littles ones how to wash your hands, doo doo doo doo doo doo. And in a time where thousands of lives are being lost to coronavirus, the message seems beyond appropriate.
Pinkfong, the South Korean educational brand behind the song, released the new song last week and it included some extra tips for your little ones (and older ones) if they cough or sneeze, and we hate to admit it, but it’s the catchiest out of all the coronavirus related anthems that have been released thus far. And it’s adorable to boot.
To ensure thoroughly washed hands, the WHO advises people to scrub for at least 20 seconds, whether it’s hand soap or a hand sanitiser. People should also avoid touching their faces and cover their mouths when sneezing or coughing in the nook of your elbows.
Here’s a friendly reminder of everything you can do to protect yourselves and others around you:
- Use proper sneezing and coughing etiquette: Cover your mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing, dispose of used tissue immediately, and wash your hands
- Avoid touching your face (mouth, nose, eyes)
- Practice social distancing: Avoiding shaking hands, hugging or kissing people, sharing food, utensils, cups and towels
- Avoid close contact with anyone who has cold or flu-like symptoms
- Seek medical care early if you or your child has a fever, cough or difficulty breathing
- Clean surfaces that might have come in touch with the virus, and generally clean surfaces more frequently (especially in public spaces)
