The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, marking the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is one of the most important and revered days in the Islamic calendar. It is observed across the Muslim world with devotion, remembrance, and expressions of gratitude. In Pakistan, the day holds deep significance, with cities and towns commemorating it through gatherings, recitations, and celebrations that reflect love and respect for the occasion.
This week, I took my camera to the streets of Lahore to capture how the city celebrated the day. From the glowing minarets of mosques to the sparkling facades of markets and the strings of lights stretching across neighborhoods, every corner of the city seemed to radiate joy. Familiar streets were transformed into radiant displays, turning Lahore into a canvas of light and devotion.

The celebration is not only about the grandeur of the decorations but also about the spirit they inspire. Families stepped out together to admire the illuminated streets, children marveled at the glowing neighborhoods, and communities gathered in an atmosphere of unity and reverence.

This week’s Sunday Snapshots by Mutal Sani shares those glimpses — Lahore adorned in brilliance, honoring the significance of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal with faith and devotion. The lights are more than decoration; they are a tribute, a reminder of the day’s importance, and a reflection of a community united in celebration.
