Pure Health Cafe: Eat Well, Live Well.

Over the last year, Karachi has been on a major health craze. From the 42 Day Challenge, to the numerous new eateries offering healthy menus and calorie counts, Karachiites have become growingly health conscious and are taking big steps forward in wanting to not only diet, but maintain a healthy lifestyle overall. Adding to the list of healthy options, pure health cafe has launched it’s first outlet in Clifton karachi, making a home where the original Nandos once stood.

Pure Health Café is a Canadian food chain that many have not heard of, but the concept and intentions behind it is to bring you a range of delicious and nutritious meals under one roof. There is a little something for everyone, so even the picky eaters can find an item or two that sounds good to them.

I am not a breakfast person, so I admit my eyes skipped past that section of the menu, even though the Spanish Omelette sounded mildly tempting. My friend and I couldn’t decide between the wraps and paninis, so we got one of each and decided to share. The Spicy Chicken Wrap was fairly tasty, with a nice kick of jalapeno, and was surprisingly filling for a healthy choice. The Pesto Chicken Panini however, was disappointing and lacking in taste. What I did really love, was the juices. With so many healthy options of fruits and vegitables, a healthy juice to take on the go is a great way to fill up in the day without that overwhelming need to nap after a big meal. I tried the High Fiber juice, a mix of apples, pineapples, oranges, lemons, and I was happier with that than I was with the meal itself.

I wont be quick to judge Pure Health just yet though, as it takes restaurants some time to get into the groove and steady their foothold. What did surprise me was the lacking number of patrons on a Friday during lunch. With the number of offices around and a longer lunch break, I expected there to be more people wanting to try out a new place (the Nandos that was there before had a waiting line going out the door on Fridays). But sadly, that isn’t the case just yet.

Pure Health Café has two important things it must do to survive. Firstly, it must maintain the quality of its international counterparts, as it will always be compared to Canadian standards. Any restaurant that starts using lower quality ingredients get called out, fast…so hopefully Pure Health knows this and wont allow it to happen. Secondly, they need to make a loud entrance. Not many people were aware that it has opened, and fewer really seemed to care because of the lack of excitement and buildup. With enough people looking for healthy alternatives, Pure Health Café has a chance to really market themselves as a go to spot, and should take this opportunity before they become old new.

Overall, i would suggest anyone looking for healthy options to give pure health cafe a try and judge for themselves. Will i be going there everyday for lunch? ...No, i dont think so. Will I stop in once in a while and grab a healthy juice? yes, definitely!
