IN HONOR OF WOMEN’S MONTH, THROUGHOUT MARCH, SUNDAY, IN COLLABORATION WITH KHAADI, WILL BE CELEBRATING THE INCREDIBLE TRAILBLAZING FEMALES THAT MAKE PAKISTAN PROUD. WE CHAT WITH THE TALENTED AND HUMBLE MUNIBA MAZARI.

How can women in this generation be role models for future generations – for both men and women?

There were times when women were dependent on men, and that dependency was mostly financial. Today, women are far more independent, they know what they want, and are no longer scared to voice their opinions because they know they can survive on their own. Today, I want mothers to raise real men; I want mothers to tell their daughters that they are not worthless. A woman with a voice is by definition a strong woman. Any woman with determination, courage, confidence and a voice can be a role model for all.

What are some decisions you’ve made in your life that took the most amount of courage?

There were two decisions in my life that took courage, and I took each step in extreme pain but without any fear! When I was told I wouldn’t be able to paint again, I started painting when I was bedridden. And then I was told that I won’t be able to be a mother for the rest of my life, I decided to adopt. Nael, my son, has been my savior!

To you, who are the biggest champions of women’s rights in Pakistan?

Any woman who knows about her rights, who has the courage to speak up without any fear, who stands up for what she believes and doesn’t let anyone tell her that she’s worthless is a champion for me.

Who are the most pro-women men you know?

Both my brothers,  Zulfiqar and Sarfraz.  I salute my mother for raising real men. I feel extreme pride when my four-year-old son says, “Mom, I’m as strong as any girl” because in that moment I say to myself, “Hey! Good going Muniba.”

In your opinion, how do women connect with Khaadi? What makes Khaadi the “preferred” Pakistani brand?

Khaadi has the widest range of products, which caters to each and every class, every age group and all, men, women and kids alike. From formals to casuals, Eastern to Western wear, you name it and they have it. There are very few brands that I’m proud of that represent the needs of the entire country. Khaadi is one of them.
