Fitness is everyone’s latest mantra and it’s becoming a part of the Pakistani high society culture-which isn’t a bad thing. One in five people you know are hitting the gym or are on a diet, so “please keep those chocolate donuts away from me!” is something you often hear your colleagues whining about. It is about time that we start concentrating on fitness, especially when you have grown up in families where your bulgy body is considered baby fat till you’re twenty and then nobody says it’s cute anymore. Reality slaps and life shatters. Research shows that almost a third of the world is now obese and in 2014, Pakistan ranked 9th in the category. That definitely is alarming! But what’s dangerous about such news is the obsession of losing weight that comes with it. We are obsessed with being Skinny. A lot of fitness camps I came across promised to make you lose Kgs in days, that’s a pretty hard promise to live by and it’s dangerous.
When the Rishta aunties started bothering me, I tried my hand at a few places, some that offered meal plans asking me to munch on leaves and others that made me work out in the morning as well as evening (I mean c’mon, I’m not living the job of an actress, I need to get back to my desk job as well!) I realized that it takes more than a muscle-bound trainer barking orders in my face to deliver results. I finally found a fitness camp well suited for my needs. This is why I think Fitin5 is one of the best boot camps in Pakistan.
Dedicated and certified leadership:
Since the past 5 years, there’s a new kid on the block every other month. That means that a small percentage of these boot camp trainers are actually certified to train you. Just because a man has muscles and a “goal” body doesn’t mean he knows what’s good for you and what’s terrible for you. A lot of times the owner of the boot camp, the face you go for, is behind the scenes and has hired smaller trainers to guide you. Mustafa Totana personally looks after each of his clients. Your body goal is somewhat his body goal because every pound you lose is a little achievement for him. In the end, both of you are rooting for the same person and that is you. You know you can count on him to pick you up when you fall exhausted on your yoga mat and he makes you believe that you CAN do it, so ‘moti’ isn’t a name you get stuck with for the rest of your life and are done listening to “HAHA tum pool me gaye toh saara pani bahar ajayega!” We need better fat jokes people!
Each individual is unique in body structure and requires personalized training. At Fitin5 you are treated like the only one in the room although there is a huge mass of people coming in and exercising together. That’s the only place you shine bright like a diamond even if you do not have a Rihanna body. If you have a weak leg, a paining back, you’re heavier in weight or you’re older in age than the rest, you cannot expect yourself to do the same exercise in the same manner as the rest of the crowd. Instructors at Fitin5 understand that. They don’t treat you like soldiers in a military camp, live or die, break a leg but continue your jumping jacks. If you face any difficulty, the trainers show you an alternate exercise for what you’re doing that effects the same part of fat located in your body but puts less pressure wherever it is hurting you. Remember, exercise is supposed to make you feel better not make you worse.
Also, the instructors understand that exercise may be your priority at a point in your life but is definitely not the only thing you have to do and we don’t have any time turners in this world. To be able to attend your classes, go to work and juggle a social life, Fitin5 offers multiple class timings. You choose what suits you best.
Body specific meal plans:
The same way, a meal plan working for your best friend will not work the same way on you. One individual may need to lose more pounds and will have a stricter meal plan than someone who is lean but just wants to tone. While you may be forbidden from eyeing your friend’s piece of cake, your friend may be allowed to dig in a spoon. Fitin5 promises to make you fit which is healthy, not look like you belong in a dinosaur museum. They promise to make you own your body, look in the mirror and feel confident about facing remarks from your phuppo telling you, you look good but can look even better. In 5 weeks, you do not become a structure, you’ve shed off your junk food fat and gained your original body and that’s what feels the best (when facebook memories from 2013 don’t make you cry over how thin you were).
Workouts are fun:
Fitness camps cannot go on making you do the same exercises every single day. That will bore you and will stop being something you look forward to. I absolutely hate burpees and doing them every single day would kill me. At Fitin5, you concentrate on different body parts every day. If one day is leg day, the other day is all strength, the third day will focus on your abs and so on. Some days Mustafa just makes you play a game of football to remind you of your school time energy! Fitin5 classes’ are fun and happening. Mustafa’s energy is contagious and even when you’re leaving class with sweat trickling down your back, you feel fresh and content for giving your best.
