With a newly revamped menu that has all of Lahore intrigued, The Cube at The Nishat Hotel cements itself as one of the hottest spots in town

Last week, The Cube invited us over to get a taste of their newly updated and revamped menu, and let me tell you… Every bite was worth it! Located at the uber posh Nishat Hotel, The Cube has always been a hot spot in Lahore, but their new menu truly takes their game up a notch. Where to begin? Managing Director of Nishat Hotels and Properties, Iqraa Mansha already has the ambiance and vibe down to the tee. The interior of the hotel lobby and restaurant has always been a sight for sore eyes, with a modern and eclectic aesthetic that draws you in – so getting The Cube menu to match expectation was just the final touch. With foodie and catering expert Maha Jawed (of Karachi’s infamous Fatso’s) as a menu consultant, The Cube had all the right ingredients (pun intended) to launch it’s summer menu with a bang! I caught up with Iqraa before I settled in for my long eating journey ahead to see what inspired it all. “It is when The Nishat was awarded the world luxury award for best luxury hotel in Pakistan early last year that I realised it was time to challenge the team to revamp the menu of The Cube. I am so grateful for my star team and culinary queen Maha Jawed for the execution of the summer menu. I truly love every dish on the menu. The coconut butter prawns and the truffle pizza are an indulgent lunch combination for me!” she laughs.

Everything on the menu looked delicious, and since we were so spoiled for choice we just went with everything! For starters, we opted for the Quinoa Salad, the Burrata Cheese Plate, Coconut Butter Prawns and the Stuffed Mushrooms. The slad was light and fresh, served with oven dried tomatoes, an array of herbs, nuts and cranberries – all the making of a perfect summer dish. I’m big on cheese, so the Burrata was a must, and served with tomato jam, fresh cherry tomatoes, balsamic and basil, trust me, the culmination of flavours exploded with each bite. Whoever said prawns in the summer season was not a good idea had clearly never heard of this dish, which may have been my favourite of the meal. The buttery prawns were melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the coconut added a hint of exotic flavor to the dish. Lastly, the spinach and three cheese stuffed mushrooms were a delight, and served with parmesan crumbs. They were gobbled up in a matter of seconds.

Even though we had eaten enough starters to fill ourselves, we were not about to pass up the opportunity to try the exquisite mains. My first choice was the grilled cheese sandwiches, that I had heard so much about since they are a specialty of Maha’s from Karachi. Stuffed with braised beef short ribs, green chili mayo and tons of chedder, these mini treats felt like comfort food at its best. Still on a high from the prawns from the starter, we also ordered the Spaghetti with Prawns, that came with crispy garlic, herbs and chillies, and was surprisingly light and filling at the same time – perfect for a hearty lunchtime meal. I also couldn’t resist the temptation of the mushroom and truffle pizza, which Iqraa had recommended. It was baked perfectly thin and crispy just as I like it, and was worth the extra indulgence. And sadly, I was full to the brim and couldn’t fathom the idea of more food, so passed on the Linguini, which I was told was bursting with authentic flavors. Served with mushroom ragu, smoked mozarella and butter crumbs, this one is not getting away from me next time. Did I say I was too full to eat? This is true… But dessert has it’s own special place in my heart, and so I was helpless when it came to trying one of my all time favourites: the chocolate macroon cake with orange butter cream. It hit every note and was the perfect end to my meal. I even eyed the salted caramel molten cake, but knew if I wanted to make it home in one piece, I should call it quit on a high note.

Overall, the revamping of The Cube has been a great summer surprise, and from their elevated palette to a reinvention of classics, everything about this new menu has been a success. I can’t wait to keep heading back for more!
